What is Love?
Love is the feeling of oneness with the beloved. It is the force of unity or cohesion that holds the universe together, experienced within the emotional side of being as Love. It is an integral aspect of the Godhead and the highest creative force. This tendency to oneness is symbolically characterized by the hug.
When self-centered, it seeks to pull the other to self. When centered on the other, it results in sacrifice and giving of oneself. The middle ground results in compassion, the ability to place oneself in the other's shoes and suffer or enjoy with the other. The highest human expression of it is oneness itself. Being the greatest unifying force, when directed toward the Godhead, it is arguably the easiest path to oneness.
When held back it can become craving, very commonly experienced in romantic love. The energy can twist itself into all kinds of negative emotion.
As a race we have been working with emotion for a very long time, exploring all its aspects and vagaries, creating societies, clans and other groups based on them. One of the important purposes of this exploration is to be able build a society, conceivably in the not too distant future, based on oneness.
