The Nature of God
In the Christian scriptures, St. John the Beloved makes a curious statement: "No man hath seen God at any time". This is almost a literal truth.
God or Absolute Reality in its fullness, is vastly beyond human conception, imagination or experience. What can be said about levels of Being wherein whole universes AND their 'creator' are but a single 'idea', much as a note of music is a human idea ?
However there are intermediary levels of Being that human beings may relate to, and which for all experiential purposes may be considered as the Godhead or the Absolute. The experience of Oneness occurs at such levels. Beyond these, the
pattern of Man has no meaning and no information that makes sense to the human experience is available. No scripture, writing or human mystical experience at any time has encompassed its fullness.
And yet, apart from mystical experiences and scriptures, human beings are also provided with an appreciation of the existence of the Godhead and its grand panorama, through the all pervading Principle of Reflection. Therefore it is not without merit that this principle of reflection may be called the God Principle, for it reflects all the truths of all the realms - right here in matter - including that of the Godhead.
