Being, Becoming, and the Prime Directive
There is Being and there is Becoming.
Being is suchness, here and now, consciousness, bliss. Recognizing this and staying with it is often called spirituality. However this is only a partial aspect of spirituality.
Being does not understand itself as much by just looking within. Much as a person in a body requires a mirror for a better perspective of the body and to build a concept of oneself, Being requires the mirror of the world and experiences to understand itself better, and to explore its full potential.
All existence functions as a mirror for Being, so that Being might find itself there, understand itself better, and explore its full potential. One's outer reality is made a reflection of one's inner reality for this purpose.
This Becoming process is a creative process, one of exploration, understanding and purposes. It is what we generally call as
life. Its prime directive is:
"Being, Know Thyself!". And this directive comes to fruition through the
Principle of Reflection (also called the God Principle in this book).
Remaining connected with being within, and working aligned with the purposes of being (your mission in life), whether those be exploration, return or some other, may be called spirituality. Since this is understood in the heart, living by the heart is also called spirituality.
Some spiritual paths denounce understanding and remain in Being (or even its state of repose where Being is quiescent). In these paths life is a mystery and nothing can ever be understood. Even the question of understanding does not arise. Certain others follow the movement of Being, its exploration, and its return. In these paths everything is poignant with meaning and purpose, understanding is key, and life itself evolves. The God Principle (book) follows the latter, while not ignoring the former.
